Weights, FMS for PowerliftingFMS testing for powerlifting. The last thing you want while your eager to start getting stronger is to wind up getting hurt in a preventable situation. Injuries are mostly preventable. Therefore knowing where your problems are allows you to take the steps required for prevention. Injured powerlifters cannot train effectively. Injuries can end your lifting career before it even starts.

The first step in injury prevention is to ensure your body has the mobility and stability before lifting. Placing your body under a heavy load when it has functional problems is a recipe for injury at a later date. You do not want to be the powerlifter who is always injured. A serious injury lifting can be detrimental to your whole way of life.

The solution For most coaches is just observation. Simple observation may not pick up on things which may later become a problem. Observation is subjective and changes depending on the experience of the coach.

I now offer FMS (Functional Movement Screen) in addition to simple observation. FMS allows for objective screening for mobility and stability problems. Helping to prevent injury and may give a boost in your ability to achieve your strength and fitness potential.

FMS is a tool. Used to identify asymmetries and functional movement deficiencies. The FMS aims to identify imbalances in mobility and stability.
