Free Powerlifting Information Session
Gympie City Gym is hosting a Free Introduction to Powerlifting information session at their fully-equipped gym on September 12th.
The session is being provided to give a basic overview of the sport and the differences to Olympic Weightlifting with which it is often confused. Powerlifting is a true strength sport. With or without competition, each lift is a measure of one’s own progress.
There is no wondering about whether or not you are improving. You either lift the weight, or you don’t. The sport consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. As in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, it involves lifting weights in three attempts.
The FREE INFORMATION session will be conducted by accredited local Powerlifting coach, Bronwyn Evans, who has trained athletes to a number of titles and record breaking performances. Bronwyn is herself a talented and decorated Powerlifter. Bronwyn will answer frequently asked questions about the rules of the sport, how to get started in the sport, what equipment is advised and what equipment is necessary, what is the difference between “Raw” and “Geared”, what federation to join, how to choose opening attempts and why do people wear those wierd one-piece outfits? Bring your Questions and your enthusiasm, All welcome.
Bookings greatly appreciated but not necessary.
